General information about DUWO WiFi

On this page you will find general information about the WiFi in buildings of DUWO.

Different networks

In your building we’ve created 2 wifi networks called Ziggo_ittdesk and Ziggo_ittdesk_SHARED. If you need to communicate with the device locally, such as a Chromecast, Apple TV, Smart TV or printer you should connect these devices to the _SHARED network. If your device doesn’t need local connection and communicates through a cloud, for example a Google Home, then you could use the normal wifi network without _SHARED. Please note that on the _SHARED network, your devices will be visible for every user in the building.

Smart devices

In order to connect your smart devices, you need to find the MAC address of your device. Please follow the steps below to find yours.

Step 1: Finding the MAC address of your device

The MAC address is a unique identifier of the device that you could use to authenticate your device. On our website we’ve put together a list of devices used most and steps to find this MAC address. Is your device not listed on this page, then you most probably will find this MAC address in the network settings of the device. Are you struggling with finding your MAC address then you are welcome to contact our helpdesk during business hours.

Step 2: Connect your device to the wifi network

In your building we’ve created 2 wifi networks called Ziggo_ittdesk and Ziggo_ittdesk_SHARED. If you need to communicate with the device locally, such as a Chromecast, Apple TV, Smart TV or printer you should connect these devices to the _SHARED network. If your device doesn’t need local connection and communicates through a cloud, for example a Google Home, then you could use the normal wifi network without _SHARED

Step 3: Navigate to our portal and add your device

Go to our wifi portal at: https://wifi.duwo.ittdesk.nl/manual-registration and sign in using the account you’ve created earlier to login to the wifi network. Next you are asked to fill out the MAC address of the device. If everything went well, you now should see a message that the device is successfully connected. After about one minute your device will be online and connected to the internet.

Need to login every time you connect to the network

Besides questions about smart devices we also got some questions about the fact that you need to login every time you connect to the network, while you did this just yesterday. To be clear, it is not necessary to login every time you connect to the network. When you connect to the network, you will indeed be shown a login page. This however has to do with the fact that the system needs a little bit of time to check whether your device was authorized or not. This could take op to 30 seconds, but often it’s quicker. If you are using a mobile phone, you might need to turn off MAC randomization.

Turn off MAC Randomization (from Android 8.0)

  1. Head over to your WiFi network and go to the settings of the WiFi network
  2. Look for the “Privacy” setting
  3. Select “Use MAC address of device”

Turn off MAC Randomization (from iOS 14)

  1. Open the Settings app, then tap Wi-Fi
  2. Tap the information button  next to a network
  3. Tap to turn Private Address on or off. If your device joined the network without using a private address, a privacy warning explains why
